Layout of the Ball
Entry to the Ball is on ground level through the glass doors across from valet or up the escalator from valet and then across the sky-bridge. Coat checks will be available at both entry points.
Guests will be entertained as they enter the sky-bridge entry area by the Nuevo flamenco sounds of the Russ Hewitt Band. The 2nd Floor will feature The Wonders and The Klocks in the Main (Lone Star) Ballroom with continuous live music and dancing from 8:00 PM until 1:30 AM. In the foyer, our guests will be amazed to see the mountain of toys accumulate in the Toy Collection Area. Also in the foyer, world famous artist David Garibaldi will be painting original pieces that will be auctioned off.
The DMS tradition continues, as our guests will find our signature Margarita Fountains, featuring long-time corporate sponsor SAUZA Tequila, flowing with sumptuous libation throughout the evening in the Main Ballroom and First Floor Ballroom. Escalators from the 2nd Floor foyer will carry guests to more of our Ball festivities. In the 1st Floor Foyer is our entertainment casino and raffle, featuring a dazzling casino complete with blackjack, craps, roulette, slot machines and a Texas Hold ‘Em Poker contest. Also in the foyer, enjoy browsing through our world class Silent Auction. The David Carr Jr. Band will keep the mood of the evening going with their smooth jazz tunes fill the foyer area. A toy collection area will also be located on the first floor to accomodate guests that enter the ball through the first floor glass doors.
This year the Ball will cover new real estate as the first floor ball room is opend up as the Mischieve Lounge from 7:00 PM to 1:30 AM. This high energy Las Vegas style club featuring live, from Las Vegas, internationally renowned DJ Presto One as well as Dallas-Fort Worths favorite video DJ Dave From London. As expected the Sauza Tequila margarita's will be flowing inside the ballroom.
As with most hotels, the Sheraton is a NO SMOKING facility. This means that we will no longer have the cigar bar located on the third floor. Patrons that wish to smoke will have to exit the ball and smoke in the valet area or area outside of the glass doors on the first floor. Wristbands will be issued for re-entry.
WILL CALL AND DRINK TICKETS
For your convenience, a Will Call table will be set up in the Hotel lobby beginning at 1:00 PM on the afternoon of the Ball. You can arrange to leave or pick up Ball invitations there. Ball drink tickets may be purchased at the Hotel check-in area
MIDNIGHT BREAKFAST
The Ball will feature a Midnight Breakfast Buffet from midnight to 2:00 AM. Rather than standing in line at the valet, we recommend that our guests rest, relax, re-fuel and re-hydrate before leaving the Ball. Cost is $14 per person and the Midnight Breakfast Buffet will be situated in the Austin Ballroom at the top of the 1st Floor escalators near the 2nd Floor sky-bridge that crosses to the Main Ballroom.
BEVERAGES
It certainly would not be the Margarita Charity Ball without our signature margaritas, featuring delicious SAUZA Tequila. Guests will find them flowing from 18 fountains in both ballrooms throughout the night until they run dry. As a “thank you” for your toy donation, the Dallas Margarita Society provides these free of charge. Cash bars are also available on both floors of the Ball. All guests who consume alcohol are encouraged to drink responsibly and TABC regulations are strictly enforced.
ATTIRE
THE BALL IS A FORMAL EVENT. BLACK TIE ATTIRE IS STRONGLY SUGGESTED.
For Gentlemen - a tuxedo is PREFERRED or, at a minimum, a dark suit and tie are acceptable. Because of the formal nature of the Ball, guests with open collared shirts without a tie, “Texas Tuxedos” (tuxedo top and jeans), any denim, and/or hats will NOT be admitted. This policy will be strictly enforced throughout the entire evening. For Ladies – evening gowns can be long or short. Sequins are definitely appropriate. This is one of those rare times where you cannot be overdressed.
